Our Food Philosophy
We care where our food comes from. That’s why we strive to serve sustainable sourced seafood, cage free eggs, and fresh, pure grass-fed beef patties. We are proud to work with vendors like Inland Seafood and Murray’s Chicken.
We are committed to our community. We work with our vendors to use local, organic, and sustainable ingredients as much as possible based on seasonality, quality, and availability. That’s why we serve products like Six Scoops Ice Cream from Gibsonville, NC, and cherry tomatoes from M & M Plant Farms right here in Elon. Check out our map of locally sourced products here.
We start with simple, clean ingredients. We strive to use all-natural stock as a base for our soups and sauces. We work to make sure our deli meats and cheeses are all-natural and free of artificial colors, flavors, and preservatives.
We serve fresh meals, made from scratch. Our chef-developed recipes are made fresh daily, such as our house-made salad dressings, our chicken and tuna salads, salmon, root vegetables, and our baked goods.
We believe that health is universal. Plant-forward choices are available daily, including full vegan and vegetarian menus offered at Green World at 1889 every weekday. Our in-house dietitian, Amanda, is also available to help students make healthy decisions, and regularly holds events around campus to help students stay informed about the foods available to them.
