INNOVATIVE TEACHING AND LEARNING IN AN ERA OF OPPORTUNITY

Develop an Elon Dining Student Manager Program for high potential student workers to develop leadership skills and basic management skills under the supervision of a seasoned hospitality mentor
Partner with study abroad program

Objectives:

•Offer travel stipend or scholarship to partner with dining during study abroad experience
•Tie technology and study abroad together so student can give virtual experiences back to dining program through travel, dining out and recipes

Loy Farm Partnership

Objectives:

•Commit to increasing Loy Farm crop utilization by 500 lbs each year

Commit to 1-2 educational farm tours each year for the Elon Dining Team
Explore adding an outdoor kitchen at Loy Farm to feature farm products, plant forward menus and teaching kitchen learning opportunities
Host an annual summer camp for local children at Loy Farm to learn about local produce, cooking techniques and eating sustainably
Support the Food Studies minor through production of an informative pamphlet of ways they can get involved with dining
